5 reasons why can’t get the exact goods you want from China

 

A lot of you engage in businesses with China due to the fact that It is currently the country with the greatest OEM. The advantage of doing business with China is something many of you will enjoy, but at the same time, there are also several disadvantages. Let me use this medium to talk more on issues importers face or might face in the near future and what causes this problems.

THE GOODS YOUR RECEIVED WASN’T WHAT YOU ORDERED OR NOT EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANTED!

Is this a problem that is likely to affect your business? I guess so; even if you have not yet encountered this problem, just imagine how such problem can make you mad if it occurs! Here, I listed out 5 reasons for you, based on my research and experience.

1. Are you certain that your need are clearly understood by your Chinese supplier?

In whatever business you engage with China, communication is a necessary factor. How often do you explain your ideas to your supplier? Or do you only describe the use of the product rather than the quality?
Several times, your china supplier replies you with “yes” when you inquire of their capability towards what you need. China is a market that has so many competitions, receiving orders is the number one issue, especially if it is a small supplying company and your first business transaction with such supplier.
The yet worse experience is communicating online, rather than in person!
Always do business with suppliers that understand your needs. Have a proper conversation your supplier on the product you want.

2. Beware of cheap Prices!!

Every business practitioner is profit oriented, so it is paramount for every business practitioner to have this at the back of their mind.
A coin is two-sides, stay away from low prices! Severally, you get low quality goods just because you are after cheap products!
My first reason was that some companies are eager to get orders from you because they can deliver products at lower prices compared to other competitors, but instead of using original spare parts or components, they utilize lower standard component because you are not paying much and you will never know about this.
For instance, standard component of a Natural Latex Sponge should be used for high quality product, but since they are offering you a lower price, do you expect them to produce your goods with materials that are of high quality? The question remains “At the end of this business cycle, who benefits more?” I don’t think anyone does.
Please put low pricing into consideration; for this is a regular china business issue for importers, especially when that price is 30% lower than the main price. You should try and find out the reason for the price difference, not just accepting it, feeling so lucky. Your Chinese supplier may also laugh behind your back because you have been deceived.

3. How often is your product request considered in the complete business process?

You must understand the significance of direct communication. Many experienced businessmen will advise you to “GO DIRECTLY” when doing business in China. Sometimes it is not easy to achieve. Here is an illustration:
Your client requests for product and this is not a situation you are common with, but somehow you were able to find a supplier in China to attend to these requests. You finally find company A, who is willing to produce your goods, now you are happy thinking you are on the advantage because you feel you are dealing directly with the manufacturers and the communication cycle stops there. It would be my pleasure to inform you that your supplier’s supply chain has only just begun.
Company A will need to buy spare parts, raw material, and so many others components. They will also need to get the right suppliers. Actually these steps are right here in your supply chain, but you may fail to consider it.
Sometimes, you have no choice but to transact business with these china trading bodies and the chain is so long.

4. Have you gotten good supplier who will take responsibility for his/her mistakes?

Sometimes, problems suddenly occur, for instance, the products surface finishing should be edge ground, but your supplier made a mistake, leaving out the “edge ground” part.
According to my experience, most China exporters will make delivery to you anyway, and you may not the product flaw remains unnoticed immediately. When you notice it in the near future, it upsets you, but there is nothing you can do about it, you just have to accept it and try to persuade your client.
You can avoid such problems if your supplier can take responsibility for his/her mistakes and correct the product.

 

5. Never forget Sampling and Quality

If your budget is low, it is not advisable you put sampling and quality control first, it is necessary to check and compare sample in reference to massive production, and write them in your contracts.

In my honest opinion, it is important to inspect all products ordered from china thoroughly, no matter how often you have requested that same product.
